Fees

$285 and then 70/30 profit share on royalties in favor of the author...

Hudson Audio Publishing charges $285/book to handle all of the technical and administrative issues associated with getting a title successfully submitted and listed for sale across these three platforms.

Aside from this administrative fee we share the royalties 70/30 in favor of the author.

If you need the content recorded there are additional fees depending on the legth of the work, who reads it and so forth. As shown on the services page, a book of around 100,000 words should cost between $1,000 - $3,000 including; voice over talent, music, editing etc. It is largely dependent on the voice you settle on. You can read a lot more about working with professional readers here. Most clients who use this service spend under $2,000 per title to be sale ready. You can of course do this yourself saving you this expense.

Just recently we also launched a program whereby authors can partner with professional voice over actors who are willing to waive their fees entirely in exchange for a share of the royalties. Right now we have about 150 profesional voice actors registered for this program and we have already produced a number of titles this way. The fee sharing arrangment is 40/30/30 with the 40% going to the author, and the other two 30% shares going to the voice actor and Hudson Audio Publishing. It does reduce your income for the audio book however it means you can get as many books as you want out there earning you money without ever having to put your hand in your pocket.

In regard to transparency, we have appointed an independant accounting firm to manage and distribute royalties based on reports produced by Audible Inc.
